The client came to us with just a concept: create a monthly subscription box that focused on library education and Black literature. Customers would receive a box via mail that contained a recently released or advance copy of a book, a circulation card, and surprise goodies related to the story. We designed the branding to reflect both library and Black culture. The colors reflect African American contemporary art, while the logo itself holds the actual call number for Black literature. The goal was to launch the subscription service with 38 subscribers. Under our guidance, the client launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise the start-up costs. Once the campaign ended, the subscription service began with 119 subscriptions, three times above the initial goal.
